I attended the Utah Library Association Conference Last Thursday and Friday and one of the presentations I attended had some librarians from the University of Utah talking about how libraries can use social media to expose the public to their unique content. Here are some things they did that any library can do albeit possibly on a smaller scale.
1. Posted archive collections combined with those from the Utah Historical Society on Flickr.
2. Created a Twitter account to promote their library activities and collections to their followers.
3. Created a library youtube channel and uploaded some of their unique archived clips including some of high interest to all Americans such as a clip of the late President John F. Kennedy at the airport in Salt Lake City, Utah.
How can your library implement one or more of these ideas?
